Celebration of social responsibility … by the Iranian community
For the second year, the Iranian Community celebrated personalities who have contributed to social life both in their community and in the society in general.
Organized by the magazine Hafteh (Week) published in Persian from Montreal under the chairmanship of Mr. Khosro Shemiranie, selection campaign was conducted within the Iranian community to designate the laureates and more than a hundred people voted for. Following the votes, ten members of community and organizations were selected.
For the winners of 2015, ten members of community and organizations are:
Mehryoush Sedigh Eskandani, for the Voluntary Veteran;
The organization Mekic, Award “Ghadirian” for the Organization Elected Community;
Mina Tayarani, Socially Engaged Entrepreneur;
Safieh (Leili) Khaghani, Outstanding Volunteer Contribution;
Armin Lotfalian Young Having An Exceptional Impact On the Community;
Nima Machouf, Ambassador Upwind of Canadian Society;
Vincent Valai, Professional Dedicated to the Community;
Sheida Gharachedaghi, Award “Behzad Razavyina” for artist with an impressive impact on the community;
Hasib Fazel, Cultural Champion Nowruz Territory;
Hossein Samimi, Permanent Devoted to Community Service.
Awards were presented during a Gala evening of “Great Sepaas 2015” which took place at the Rialto Theatre on June 28.
Among the elite guests of SEPAAS 2015, Mr. François Pilon, Member of Parliament, Mr. Amir Khadir, Member of the Assemblée nationale du Québec, Mr. David Berger, former Member of Parliament and Ambassador, Mrs. Madeleine Sultan, Political Attaché of the Ministère de la culture et de la communication, Mr. Ömer Özen, Editor of the Bizim Anadolu Newspaper, ‘Graham Carpenter, Director of the Outremont riding of Mr. Thomas Mulcair, Mrs. Matilda Red, Parliamentary Assistant to Mr. Thomas Mulcair, Mrs. Myriam Taylor, Assistant to the Office of Outremont of Mr. Thomas Mulcair, Mr. Savary and Mrs. Chhem-Kieth Nolsinayim of Montreal Cambodian Cultural Center were present.
In the exceptional Gala, we had the chance to listen to young talented musicians such as Ali Reza Fakharian, Babak Namvar-Azad, Bahar Ehsani and Mehran Yazdizadeh.
But the big surprise of the the Gala was undoubtedly Ensemble Niyaz and its founder Azam Ali, the world-famous singer and close friend of Turkey.
Azam Ali gave an unforgettable concert singing in Persian, Hindu, Dari and Turkish.
Another surprise for us, was also our dear friend Didem Başar, a kanun player, who played within the Ensemble Niyaz. It was a great pleasure to listen her in the concert. During the spectacle of the Ensemble Niyaz, we also had the chance to witness a spiritual dance by a Canadian Whirling Dervish.
