The responsible of the coordination in Canada, Ebru Demirtaş, one of the observers working in Toronto, was threatened by a member of the MHP (the Nationalist Movement Party and an ally of the AKP, the party in power in Turkey), member of the ballot box.

The problems persist in the voting process in Toronto. However, on the evening of May 3, 2023, while the minutes were being prepared after the polls closed, Cengiz Yılmaz, a member of the Elections Committee, who tried to pressure the head of the coordination of Volunteers of Türkiye to Canada who observe the voting processes, Ebru Demirtaş, around 11:00 p.m., shouted loudly in front of the other members of the Commission and acted provocatively asking her to “Watch her steps and be quiet”.
Faced with this attitude of the aggressor, the coordinator Ebru Demirtaş, made a request to the Election Commission of the Consulate General of Toronto and demanded that this person be withdrawn from the polls because “her life was under threat”.
It is reported that the demand was sent to Türkiye and it was rejected by the Overseas District Electoral Council.
