A Fascinating Recital By Deniz Tahberer And Wenwen Du

Deniz Tahberer and Wenwen Du played extraordinarily well at their recital at the architecturally majestic Vancouver Art Gallery, on Friday, February 27, 2009. The recital program included some of the best-known pieces from the classical western music repertoire, as well as two of Deniz's very recent compositions. Deniz and Wenwen's outstanding performance left the audience in awe. The young musicians received standing ovation for minutes. In the beginning of the program Deniz played Adagio and Fuga from Sonata for solo violin in C major by J.S. Bach. Wenwen joined Deniz afterwards to play Beethoven's Violin Sonata no.7. Later Deniz masterfully played Paganini Caprice 4. Of note, one can find Deniz playing this piece on you tube now:

The audience enjoyed the introductory information Deniz gave in a humorous and witty way before each piece.

Wenwen was truly magnificent in her interpretation of Listz's Transcendental Etude No. 5 and the audience confirmed it with their long lasting applauds. Saint Saens, Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso is a showpiece, and Deniz and Wenwen didn't fail the composer.

Finally the two young musicians performed two of Deniz's recent compositions. The first one, titled Claire was a piece of music dedicated to their late friend Claire Su, who was also a pianist, lost her fight against cancer at a very young age in 2008. The second composition of Deniz was titled Fight or Dance. Fight or Dance fascinated everyone in the audience with its rich and deep Turkish flavored melody.

The end of the recital was so magical that it was definitely a place to be for anyone who likes classical music and appreciates stellar performances such as presented by these two very young and talented musicians.
